12-Week-Old Puppy Very Sick at Mahopac Animal Hospital

The folks at the Mahopac Animal Hospital are chipping in when it comes to caring for Killian, a 12-week-old pit bull who is fighting for his health. They're asking for support from community members, too.

The pup's owners brought him in recently, and blood tests showed he's suffering from Parvovirus, a highly contagious disease among dogs. It can be fatal.

Unfortunately, the owners "could not afford the treatment that he will require and wanted to put him to sleep," reads an online campaign posted here earlier this week. "The employees couldn't bear to see that happen when there was hope for Killian to recover. After some discussion with one of the employees of the clinic and Killian's owners, he was signed over to the employee."

As of Thursday night, Killian was feeling a bit better—he wasn't interested in food, but he was being a bit playful and showing some affection.

Donations are still being accepted. $390 has been raised toward the $1,000-goal.
