Habitat for Humanity Seeking Putnam Family for Third House

Two informational meetings are slated for next month.

The mission of Habitat for Humanity International is to aid folks who are in need of affordable, reliable housing—and local volunteers are hoping to do just that for a new set of Putnam residents.

Habitat for Humanity of Putnam County is seeking a family for its third house, which is located in Putnam Valley. Members of the group worked for more than a year on a second house, where finishing touches, including the recent driveway installation, are being put into place.

Applicants are encouraged to attend a meeting, either on Oct. 2 (6 to 8 p.m. at the Mahopac Fire House on Route 6) or Oct. 13 (10 a.m. to noon at St. Mary's Episcopal Church on Chestnut Street in Cold Spring), to learn more about requirements. The selected family will be responsible for taxes, insurance and more.
