Brewster High School Art Class Designs Placemats For Senator Ball's Veterans Thanksgiving Dinner

Brewster, N.Y. – 11/07/2013 – Senator Greg Ball (R, C, I – Patterson) was at Brewster High School on Thursday morning to accept placemats that Mrs. Sarah Barnes’ art class designed for the 3rd Annual Veterans’ Thanksgiving Dinner.

Senator Greg Ball joined Mrs. Barnes’ art class to accept over 60 placemats they designed for Senator Ball’s 3rd Annual Veterans’ Thanksgiving Dinner. Over the past two years, Senator Greg Ball has worked with the community to host an annual Thanksgiving dinner for local veterans. Last year hundreds of veterans’ attended the free dinner hosted at Putnam National Golf Club.

“This wonderful event couldn’t be possible without the help of local school groups like Mrs. Barnes’ class. I urge anyone that wants to give back to those that gave so much to us, to join us to help plan this dinner,” said Senator Greg Ball. “To see the smile on the vets’ faces as they walk into the room, makes the dinner worth it every year.”

The class, which consists of 8 students ranging in grades from 9th to 11th, gave a short presentation on what a solider means to them. Each student had a letter from the word “soldiers” S: Strength, O: Outstanding, L: Loyal, D: Dedicated, I: Inspiring, E: Exceptional, R: Respected and S: Service.

“Brewster Central School District is very proud to be a part of the Veterans’ Thanksgiving Dinner. I would like to commend Senator Greg Ball for hosting this annual dinner to show thanks to our local veterans for their service,” said Joseph Castagnola, Principal of Brewster High School. “On November 14th, at 7:00 p.m., in our Performing Arts Center, our High School will also honor our local veterans as we perform our annual Salute to Veterans Choral Concert.”

“Thanksgiving is no ordinary holiday. It is a time to reflect on the good that surrounds us and give back to those who protect us,” said Mrs. Barnes.

Senator Ball, Chairman of the Senate Veterans, Homeland Security and Military Affairs Committee and the Military Order Of The Purple Heart, Chapter 21 are hosting their 3rd Annual Veterans’ Thanksgiving Dinner for local veterans. Last year, hundreds of veterans attended the free dinner hosted at Putnam National Golf Club.

Over the past two years, Senator Greg Ball has worked with the community to host an annual Thanksgiving Dinner for local veterans. This year’s dinner promises to be bigger than ever. Senator Ball is seeking volunteers and donations to help make the free meal possible.

The Thanksgiving Dinner will be hosted on Saturday, November 23rd at Putnam National Golf Course. There will be three seating’s at 1pm, 3pm and 5pm. Veterans that would like to attend should contact Senator Greg Ball’s office at (845) 279-3773.
