Brewster Man Dies at 53

Services are slated for Saturday and Monday.

 provided the following information:

David M. Scerri, age 53, of Brewster, died Monday at his home.

Dave was born on May 27, 1958 in New York City to Samuel Scerri and the late Rosemarie (Bezzina) Scerri.

Dave married Frances "Red" Nicholson on June 22, 1991 in New Paltz. Dave and Red made their home in Manhattan before moving to Brewster in 1998.

Dave worked as an electrician for Local #3 in Manhattan for 30 years. Dave enjoyed life. He was a dedicated family man, totally involved in hisvdaughters’ lives; especially sports and school activities. Along with his wife Red, they were the center of his life.

In addition to card-playing, Dave was also a Bob Dylan enthusiast and loved horse racing.

Besides his father Sam and his wife Red, Dave is survived by his two daughters, Samantha and Dylan; as well as, a brother, Joseph Scerri of Dobbs Ferry; and two sisters, Marianne Scerri of Calistoga, CA and Suzanne Bixler of Downingtown, PA.

A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. on Monday at Sacred Heart Church in Putnam Lake. Interment following at Milltown Rural Cemetery in Southeast.

Friends may call at the Beecher Funeral Home (1 Putnam Avenue in Brewster) from 5 to 9 p.m. Saturday. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Dave's memory towards his daughters continuing education. Donations may be made payable to Samantha Scerri and Dylan Scerri
