Obituary: Brewster Man Dies at 57

Beecher Funeral Home provided the following obituary.

Bryan C. Purdy of Brewster, died Tuesday in Carmel after a long battle with cancer. He was 57.

Mr. Purdy was born Nov. 15, 1955 in Las Cruces, NM, son of the late Raymond J. and Virginia (Winstanley) Purdy. He graduated from Yonkers High School and worked as a self-employed carpenter. Formerly of Yonkers living in Brewster since 1990, Mr. Purdy enjoyed music, astronomy, space, sci-fi, jet planes and pizza.

Mr. Purdy is survived by his long time companion Regina T. (Parrish) Bendix; four children: Joshua Purdy of Henderson, NV, Robert Purdy of Stroudsburg, PA, Sarah E. Bendix of Brewster and Gerard R. Bendix Jr. of Mahopac; two brothers: Robert Purdy of Brewster and Clifford Purdy of Yonkers; three sisters: Karen Ratajack and Arlene Steinhardt both of Brewster and Diana Halloway of Rapid City, SD; and two grandchildren: Mikayla and Tristin.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at New Life Church (29 Marshall Court in Patterson). Please coordinate flower deliveries from 1 to 1:30 p.m. on Sunday. Arrangements were handled by Beecher Funeral Home (located on Putnam Avenue in Brewster, 845-279-3615).

Um...Since I live in Southeast, I can't vote for Mayor of the Village of Brewster. So why do youRead More think I, a taxpayer of Southeast, paid for this destruction when I really don't have a clue to what happens in the Village? There's a disconnect that needs to addressed.
