Brewster Police

Reading all of these blogs I have to definitely come to the defense of the Brewster Village Police Department. I read that the Village cops are called rent-a-cops and I'd like to clarify that. I know for a fact that most of these cops are retired NYPD police officers, retired sheriff's deputies, and some of the men and women come from local police academies. Village PD are not rent-a-cops. They are highly trained and experienced officers with tremendous backgrounds in all phases of police work. Some are retired sergeants, retired lieutenants, some are third-grade, second-grade and first-grade detectives. Each officer was handpicked from numerous resumes and one officer received the Medal of Honor from NYPD, which is the highest award.
One of the bloggers stated that crime is on the rise in the Village when that is not a true statement. Crime in the Village has gone down 87% in the last four years. Brewster Police started a massive crackdown of drunk driving approximately four years ago when there was a serious accident in the Village, cracking down on DWI, running stop signs, going through red lights and speeding in the Village, which have become less and less over the years because of the crackdown. If anyone does not like the crackdown, where the Village Police are making the Village safer for people, that's hard to believe. When heavy duty trucks steer clear of the VIllage and go around it because they have many violations, that's all to do with the enforcement the Village does in weeding out terrible trucks which they have taken off the streets in the last four years.
To the person who is listed on the blogs as MP, who stated that the Brewster Police did not care about a dog being struck on Main Street, and stated there were comments said by the officer about the dog, that's untrue. The Brewster cop who was on the scene of this tragic accident had a lot to do that night because of the woman who was cradling her dog in the middle of the road. Traffic was backed up on Main Street around the turn, a lot of people were in the street. The woman who had struck the dog was a little apprehensive because people were yelling at her that she ran this dog over, and the officer by himself was trying to calm everybody down. Then two deputies showed up and they asked the Brewster cop if he needed help. He said yes. The Brewster cop took down all the information from the driver, did an investigation and made out a motor vehicle accident report while at the same time the two deputies helped pick up the dog that was in a blanket and put that dog in the back seat of a private vehicle and the private vehicle took that dog to an animal hospital. After the Brewster cop did his initial accident report he notified a tow truck to come tow the vehicle. It was also stated in this particular blog by MP that the dog's owner received a ticket on that same night for her car. That's untrue. The ticket was issued two days prior to the accident. This dog at 10 o'clock at night followed its owner across Main Street in the darkness of night without a leash on and the owner had no control over the dog. The bottom line is the dog should have been leashed and maybe this would have not happened.
