Case Continues for Owoos

The brothers have been in jail for two months. They are due back in court Oct. 18.

The North Salem teens who were arrested in connection with a brawl that left two Brewster boys injured recently appeared in Southeast Justice Court.

Correctional officers brought Jonathan P. Owoo, 19, and Michael X. Owoo, 17, into court Thursday in jumpsuits and shackles. They stood together, with lawyers, before Judge Gregory L. Folchetti.

Assistant District Attorney Christopher York told Folchetti that his office is in the midst of ascertaining victim input, and obtaining each's current status. The defense lawyers said they were conducting additional investigation, too. After hearing from both sides, Folchetti set the Owoos' next appearance for Oct. 18.

Officials from the Putnam County Sheriff's Office  arrested the brothers on felony assault charges in July, following a fight that left one of the two victims in critical condition.

They were initially sent to the Putnam County Correctional Facility on $75,000 cash or $150,000 bond bail. In late July, Folchetti reduced the bail to $20,000 cash or $40,000 bond for each.
