Brewster Fire Department Creates Biking Ambassador Program

During the 4th of July weekend, the Brewster Fire Department initiated a new "Biking Ambassador" program for the safety of the community.

The Brewster Fire Department has begun a new "Biking Ambassador” program.  The fire department developed the program to ensure safety for visitors utilizing the rail trail path.

The department hopes to spread the word about general bicycle safety, helmet use, and the hazards specific to the path, such as intersection safety and proper passing rules. During the months of July and August, firefighters will be biking in the area to assist visitors with directions, provide community information, and respond to medical calls within Town of Brewster and along the bike trail.

Brewster Fire Chief Robert Moran said of the program, “This is a great opportunity for the department to be proactive in supporting bike safety on the rail trail while at the same time interacting with the numerous visitors and residents of our community. Remember, bike safely and smartly! We look forward to seeing you.”
