A 17-year-old Carmel resident is facing a misdemeanor charge of petit larceny following a recent incident at the ShopRite on Route 52.
At about 5:15 p.m. Sept. 16, officers from the Carmel Police Department responded to a report of a shoplifter, who had been apprehended by store security there.
"He is accused of leaving the store without paying for $11.61 in merchandise," police Chief Mike Johnson said in a statement.
Authorities took the teen into custody and arrested him. He's due in Carmel Justice Court Oct. 23.
