Police: Brewster Resident's Bad Check Complaint Leads to Arrest

Officials from the Putnam County Sheriff's Office have arrested a 37-year-old Wingdale man after a Brewster resident received a bad check for $2,380, authorities say.

The complainant lodged the report in November 2012, according to a statement released Friday. He identified the man and told police the check provided was returned from the bank because of insufficient funds.

Investigator John Alfano obtained an arrest warrant for the defendant. He was apprehended at his home around 8:30 p.m. July 23 and charged with issuing a bad check. Following arraignment, he was taken to the Putnam County Correctional Facility on $2,500 cash or $5,000 bond.

The defendant posted bail and was released. He's due in Brewster Justice Court Aug. 12.
