Brewster Resident Scares Off Reported Intruder

Police say they have obtained video footage that may be helpful during their probe.

Brewster Police are investigating an attempted intrusion that occurred at a Garden Street home early Monday.

A resident contacted authorities after someone reportedly tried to enter the house at about 2 a.m. Word of the incident spread in an email via the online group Brewster10509:

"Someone tried both our front and back door," the person wrote. "He (or she) then went into the cars. Stupidly, I had left my car unlocked and my purse in the car. When [a relative] went outside to check the noise of the front door opening and being shaken, whoever it was disappeared. There was a mountain-type bike in the middle of the road."
