Sheriff's Office Makes Arrest in Patterson Burglaries

A 28-year-old East Fishkill man is facing felony charges in connection with two break-ins at Patterson businesses, according to authorities.

The commercial burglaries were reported in October. One took place at a delicatessen and the other at a sporting good store.

In both cases, the suspect allegedly "entered the businesses during the hours of darkness and stole cash and other articles from within," officials with the Putnam County Sheriff's Office said in a recent statement.

During the course of investigation, undercover deputies with the Sheriff's Narcotics Enforcement Unit gained information that led to the Oct. 23 arrest of Robert M. Metzler. He's facing two counts of third-degree burglary, felonies.

Following arraignment before Kent Town Justice Kevin Douchkoff, Metzler was sent to the Putnam County Correctional Facility without bail. He will be due in Patterson Justice Court to answer the charges.

Officials are continuing their investigation and they expect additional arrests.
