Troopers Charge Southeast Man with DWI, Criminal Impersonation

A 39-year-old Southeast man is facing misdemeanor and felony charges after he drove drunk and provided police with a fake name, officials said.

State troopers from the Southeast barracks arrested Shondel T. Bryant Jan. 3. They charged him with felony first-degree falsifying business records, misdemeanor second-degree criminal impersonation, misdemeanor driving while intoxicated and several traffic violations.

Bryant is accused of getting behind the wheel while intoxicated and traveling on Route 22 in town. He "impersonated another subject to attempt to conceal that he was wanted by NYPD for a prior DWI," police allege.

Following arraignment, Bryant was sent to the Putnam County Correctional Facility on $2,500 cash or $5,000 bond bail, pending a future court appearance.
