Troopers: Driver in Route 22 Crash Had High Blood-Alcohol Level

A 57-year-old Bedford Hills woman involved in an accident on Route 22 in Southeast was behind the wheel with a blood-alcohol level more than twice the legal limit, police said.

Troopers arrested the woman at about 7:50 a.m. Monday, after the Chevy Equinox she was driving collided with a Toyota Corolla. The defendant was making a left into the Mahopac National Bank parking lot. The second driver was headed south on Route 22.

Both vehicles were towed but no one was injured, according to authorities. The defendant's blood-alcohol level was 0.21 percent, police said. The legal limit is 0.08.

Police charged her with aggravated driving while intoxicated, a misdemeanor, and a right-of-way violation. She is due Thursday in Southeast Justice Court.
