A 23-year-old Mahopac man is due in Yorktown Town Court next month to answer charges that he stole a coat from Sears in Jefferson Valley, police said.
The man was arrested on Nov. 12 when police responded to a report that a shoplifter was in custody. Police said he had stolen a coat worth $90 from store displays and exited the store without paying for it.
He was charged with petty larceny, a misdemeanor, and released.
The man was scheduled to appear in Yorktown Town Court on Dec. 12.
