Patch FB fans Weigh in on Animal Abuse Registry


There's been an interesting discussion on Patch Facebook pages about state lawmakers' attempt to create an animal abuse offenders' registry listing everyone convicted under Buster's Law.

The Putnam County SPCA posted a comment on the Southeast-Brewster Patch Facebook page directing folks to its most recent Patch blog post on the subject. The SPCA also recommended this interesting exchange about the issue on its own Facebook page.

Here are some of the comments from nearby Patch Facebook sites:

"Yes!" said Victoria Rosman Saks on Bedford-Katonah Patch FB. "Such people/beasts should be prohibited from adopting/rescuing/buying animals in the future."

Writing on the Yorktown-Somers Patch Facebook page, Billy Lilijeroos suggested offenders should also have their mugshots published by the local press.

But others aren't so sure.

"No! We have enough criminalizing already," said Warren Harry on the White Plains Patch Facebook page. "The criminal justice system is not our best, or only tool in our box of societal responses."
