Putnam Hires New Planning Commissioner

His yearly salary will be $110,000.

The Putnam County Board of Legislators approved Anthony Ruggiero's hiring as the new county planning commissioner during Tuesday night's meeting.

Ruggiero, who was Peekskill’s director of planning, will oversee Putnam’s planning, development and public transportation. He will be paid a yearly salary of $110,000 in the new position. Putnam County Executive MaryEllen Odell appointed Ruggiero to the position on Nov. 21. He is expected to start the new position immediately following the by Putnam County lawmakers. 

Prior to serving as Peekskill’s director of planning, Ruggiero served as a junior planner with the Town of Poughkeepsie from 1997 to 1999 and Beekman’s town planner in 1999 before coming to Peekskill as an assistant city planner in 2000.

Ruggiero served as assistant city planner until he was promoted to the position of city planner in 2006. He was eventually named the city’s director of planning in 2009.

He declined to comment on his new position Monday.

Um...Since I live in Southeast, I can't vote for Mayor of the Village of Brewster. So why do youRead More think I, a taxpayer of Southeast, paid for this destruction when I really don't have a clue to what happens in the Village? There's a disconnect that needs to addressed.
