Village Announces 'Envision Brewster' Work Sessions

The Village of Brewster Board of Trustees will discuss a range of topics—the downtown area, Garden Street School, the zoning code and more—at Thursday morning work sessions beginning this week, officials said Monday.

Here's a statement the village released:

Please take notice, that the Board of Trustees of the Village of Brewster will hold work sessions every Thursday at 10 a.m. beginning July 11, 2013 at Village Hall - 50 Main Street, Brewster, NY 10509. The Village Board and a task force created by the board of trustees for this purpose hopes to provide a framework for creating a strong vibrant community that reflects its diversity, history and culture.

Some points of discussion may be; development of an implementation plan addressing redevelopment of the Village of Brewster. This plan may include recommended revisions to our comprehensive plan, zoning code, urban renewal planning, potential uses of Garden Street School, applications for funding, and other topics aimed at envisioning a future of downtown Brewster that would create economic value for our residents and enhance the quality of life. No action will be taken at these work sessions.

Any and all recommendations resulting from these work sessions will be reviewed by the Board of Trustees and acted on in accordance with the Open Meetings Law where the public may have the opportunity to offer comments. No public comments will be accepted at the work sessions but the public is welcome to attend and observe.
