Wild Weather In Store For Southeast

The National Weather Service is forecasting storms, hail and even a possible tornado risk for the Putnam and Westchester area.

More wild, summer weather is on its way, Brewtser and Southeast.

The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a Hazardous Weather Outlook today for Putnam County and the surrounding area.

According to the NWS, Brewster could see severe thunderstorms this afternoon and evening.

"Damaging winds and heavy rainfall are the main threats," the NWS said in its advisory. "Large hail is possible as well. An isolated tornado cannot be ruled out."

Gov. Andrew Cuomo issued this statement Wednesday, stressing the importance that folks take proper precautions as the bad weather approaches.

Locally, expect storms mostly after 4 p.m. today, and before 10 this evening. The high temperature today will reach 89 degrees, and tonight 74, according to the NWS.

On Friday, showers and thunderstorms are likely after 7 a.m., bringing cloudy skies along. The wet weather is expected to return with a high temp of 89, according to the NWS.

The weekend may kick off on a wet note, with a 50-percent chance of showers and mostly cloudy skies Saturday.

Sunday looks like sunshine and temperatures in the 80s.
