Boy Injured in Route 22 Crash Making 'Progress'

The 4-year-old boy who sustained serious injuries in a recent Route 22 crash is improving "slowly but steadily," according to a Facebook page aimed at raising awareness for him.

A post noting that Antonio, who suffered head trauma, "has made progress" appeared around noon Tuesday.

He reportedly woke up and spoke over the weekend, a comment in this post states.

Antonio and his grandmother were involved in a head-on collision June 27. The vehicle that struck theirs hit another car first. Police kept the road closed for several hours to investigate, and officials said there may have been mechanical problems associated with the accident.

The other folks involved also sustained injuries—two suffered minor ones, and the third's ankle was shattered. Antonio's and his grandmother's were categorized as "massive."

"His grandmother is doing well and is in a rehabilitation facility working on healing," an administrator of the Facebook page wrote.

Other information shared there includes photos of local folks donning bright bracelets that bear the words "Antonio's Gift." Cosmopolitan Salon at 6 Clocktower Commons Drive and Creative Kids at 1515 Route 22 are selling them for $2, and although they recently sold out, new shipments are expected soon.

This post includes details for an Aug. 11 carnival event at Thunder Ridge in Patterson. Funds raised will go to Antonio's recovery.
